Premier sets sights on new carol singing world record

Premier Christian Radio has just been confirmed as the world record holder for the largest carol singing event but the group are not resting on their laurels.

Instead, they are looking to do even better this Christmas by encouraging even more churches to join in.

More than 18,000 people met at 196 venues across the UK for the feat last December.

The hard work paid off and Guinness confirmed Premier this week as the new world record holders for the largest group of carol singers in multiple locations.

The record attempt took place on 18 December as part of the Christmas Starts with Christ campaign to highlight the true meaning of Christmas.

Premier Christian Radio replaces Disney, which previously held the record after bringing together 14,100 carol singers and the stars of Disney's A Christmas Carol in London three years ago.

Now Premier is looking to smash its own record this Christmas.

Peter Kerridge, CEO of Premier Christian Radio, said: “There was huge enthusiasm for this record attempt which really captured people’s imagination. But, we think we can do better! We want people to draw in their communities and fill churches, halls and pubs. With over 18,000 people across the UK taking part – we did just that! My thanks, and congratulations goes out to all those who took part in organising a carol singing event in their community. I’m looking forward to seeing them on board this December.”
